materials cost

Materials cost for raw materials and parts used in the manufacturing process is equal to the basic cost level ($1.23 for model number 1 at the beginning of Year 3) for each unit of production.  Materials costs are subject to inflation.  Two thirds of the materials costs are paid during the current quarter and one third are paid the following quarter.
